The Youth-Inspired Climate Adaptation Webinar was organised by Nkosingizwile Ndlovu as part of the Climate X South Africa initiative, in collaboration with SANBI, GAUC, UNESCO, and the University of Pretoria. Held on 4 November 2025, the event explored four key themes: approaches and challenges in climate adaptation, practical adaptation strategies across diverse contexts, the role of individuals and communities in driving climate action, and the role of law in climate adaptation. The webinar convened youth, researchers, and practitioners to discuss actionable pathways for advancing inclusive and evidence-based adaptation in South Africa.

  • About
    Nkosingizwile Bongiwe Ndlovu is an MSc researcher in Geoinformatics at the University of Pretoria, specializing in hydrological regime assessments of wetlands. Her research investigates how wetland hydroperiods and hydrological regimes are influenced by climate variability and land-use changes, using advanced geospatial analysis and remote sensing techniques. Currently serving as a Research Operations Intern at the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), she supports projects aimed at enhancing environmental monitoring. Nkosingizwile has actively participated in climate vulnerability workshops, including a session hosted by WILDTRUST in St Lucia, KwaZuluNatal, where she presented her findings on the Rainfall Anomaly Index. This experience has honed her ability to communicate complex climate data to diverse stakeholders, including community leaders and conservationists. She combines her technical expertise in geospatial analysis with a commitment to empowering communities to build climate resilience through informed decision-making and leadership development. Passionate about empowering youth through climate education, Nkosingizwile is dedicated to translating scientific research into actionable strategies for building climate resilience in South African rural communities.
