Event Description

IISc is planning a hybrid event for Global Youth Climate Week, which brings together themes of planetary health, sustainable agriculture, and extreme events. The main goal of this event will be to highlight a few novel, yet holistic approaches presented by budding researchers from various fields to chart a course toward a resilient and thriving planet. In the first talk of the event, Dr. Joshitha S delves into the interdisciplinary framework of Planetary Health where the complex interdependence among human health, ecosystems, and socioeconomic systems will be explored in the face of climate change. In the second talk, Ms. Suman B M emphasizes the importance of sustainable agricultural practices as a solution for addressing the impacts of climate change on agriculture and for mitigating the detrimental effects of agrochemicals on soil health and the ecosystem. Finally, Ms Jency M S will exhibit the evolving patterns of dry and humid heatwaves and their impact on mortality.
